Day Creams for Everyday Skincare

Browse moisturising, smoothing, firming and SPF day creams for different skin types and routines. Compare texture, ingredients, fragrance information and sun-protection details on each product page.

Apply according to the product directions. A day cream without stated SPF does not replace a dedicated sunscreen.

Frequently asked questions

Is an SPF day cream enough sun protection?

Usually not, for one practical reason: nobody applies moisturiser at the thickness SPF is tested at. You would need roughly half a teaspoon on the face alone to achieve the labelled figure, which is far more cream than most people use. An SPF day cream is better than none, but for real sun exposure use a dedicated sunscreen.

Do I need a separate day and night cream?

Not necessarily. The functional differences are that day creams may contain SPF and lighter textures for wear under makeup, while night creams are often richer and may contain retinoids best kept away from daylight. If your skin is happy with one cream twice daily, that is a legitimate routine.

Which day cream for oily versus dry skin?

Oily and combination skin generally does better with gel-creams and fluids โ€” lighter textures, often with niacinamide. Dry skin benefits from richer emollients and occlusives. "Rich" is not the same as "good" โ€” heavy creams on oily skin cause congestion, and thin lotions on dry skin leave it tight by midday.

Where does day cream go in my routine?

After cleansing, toner and serum, before sunscreen and makeup. Thinnest to thickest is the general rule. If your day cream contains the SPF, it goes last among skincare.

Can I use a day cream with active ingredients every day?

Depends on the active. Niacinamide and hyaluronic acid are generally well tolerated daily. Retinoids and exfoliating acids need gradual introduction and reliable daily sunscreen. Introduce one active at a time so you can identify what causes a reaction.
