Frequently asked questions
What does "certified organic" mean on makeup?
It means an independent body has verified the proportion of organic-farmed ingredients against a published standard — COSMOS and ACO are the ones you will see most often on INIKA products. It is a claim about ingredient sourcing, not about performance or safety, and it does not mean 100% of the formula is organic.
How do I pick a foundation shade online?
Match to your jawline rather than your hand, and check undertone — whether your skin leans warm, cool or neutral — before depth. Screens shift colour, so read the shade description alongside the swatch images. Our INIKA trial sets in Light and Medium exist for exactly this problem: they let you test four products before committing to full sizes.
Is mineral makeup better for sensitive or blemish-prone skin?
Often, though not universally. Mineral formulas typically use shorter ingredient lists and skip fragrance and many preservatives, which reduces the number of possible triggers. But zinc and titanium dioxide can feel drying on some skin. Patch test, and introduce one new product at a time so you can identify a reaction.
What is the difference between loose and pressed mineral foundation?
Loose powder is buildable, breathable and generally lighter, but messier to travel with. Pressed or baked formats are more portable and give more coverage per pass. INIKA's loose mineral foundations also carry a stated SPF25, though a dedicated sunscreen is still the better sun protection.
How long does makeup last once opened?
Mascara and liquid eye products are the shortest-lived — replace roughly every three months, because the wand reintroduces bacteria with each use. Liquid foundations and creams typically last six to twelve months after opening; powders last longer. Look for the open-jar symbol with a number of months on the packaging.
How do I clean makeup brushes?
Rinse with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser, working the bristles gently rather than scrubbing, then reshape and dry flat with the bristles off the edge of a surface. Never dry brushes standing upright — water runs into the ferrule and loosens the glue.
