Sunscreen for Face, Body and Active Days
Explore mineral and conventional sun-protection products in creams, fluids, sprays and sticks. Compare SPF level, finish, format, water-resistance information and application directions on each product page.
Apply generously and reapply according to the product label, especially after swimming, sweating or towel drying. Avoid prolonged sun exposure even when using sunscreen.
Frequently asked questions
Mineral or chemical sunscreen — which is better?
Both are effective at their stated SPF. Mineral filters such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide sit on the skin surface and work immediately, but can leave a white cast and feel heavier. Chemical filters absorb into the top skin layer, feel lighter and blend invisibly, but need roughly 15–20 minutes before exposure. The better sunscreen is the one you will actually reapply.
How much sunscreen should I actually use?
The SPF on the label is measured at 2 mg per square centimetre — roughly 30 ml, a shot glass, for a full adult body, and about half a teaspoon for face and neck. Most people apply a quarter to a half of that, which means real-world protection is well below the number on the bottle. Applying generously matters more than choosing a higher SPF.
Do I need sunscreen in Sweden in winter?
UVB, which causes sunburn, is very low in Nordic winter. UVA persists year-round and contributes to skin ageing. Snow reflects a large share of UV back at you, so bright winter days at altitude or on ski slopes carry real exposure. Daily sunscreen matters most from roughly March to September, plus any snow-sport days.
What does SPF 30 versus SPF 50 actually mean?
SPF 30 filters roughly 97% of UVB and SPF 50 roughly 98% — a smaller difference than the numbers suggest. Neither blocks everything, and no sunscreen makes unlimited sun exposure safe. Higher SPF gives more margin for the under-application that almost everyone is guilty of.
How often do I reapply?
Every two hours during sustained exposure, and immediately after swimming, heavy sweating or towel drying regardless of how long it has been. "Water-resistant" means the SPF holds for a stated period in water, usually 40 or 80 minutes — not that it is waterproof.
Is sunscreen safe for babies and small children?
Shade, timing and clothing come first for infants. From six months, mineral sunscreens are generally preferred for young children as they are less likely to irritate. We stock a Suntribe Kids mineral SPF30. Check the stated age guidance on each product and ask your child health centre if unsure.
